Fixed or Mobile Diagnostic Services

Primary Care Diagnostics

We deliver Direct Access Diagnostics Services to GPs and other health professionals from over 80 community based sites across the country.  Direct Access Services enable GPs and other professionals to refer patients directly to one of our diagnostic centres (fixed or mobile) for a scan or other test.

The results of the scan are sent directly to the GP which allows the GP to determine the most appropriate course of treatment.

Our direct access diagnostic services are highly flexible and can be tailored to meet the specific needs of the local community.

We have the skills, experience and resources to deliver uniquely flexible and high quality end-to-end direct access diagnostic services through:

  • Identifying the best sites to locate a service
  • Providing professional staff or create a team of professionals to deliver the service
  • Offering an electronic patient booking system via Choose and Book or a personal system using our dedicated Patient Referral Centre
  • Monitoring patient and referrer satisfaction of the service

We understand that having a test or scan can be a daunting experience and we help the referral process by providing a quick and efficient service, keeping patients fully informed and providing a professional environment with friendly and caring staff.

What are the benefits to you and your patients?

Speed

We see patients within 15 working days from referral date, with the electronic diagnostic report following two days later (if you have a secure nhs.net e-mail) or four days for a posted report.  In addition, patients receive their test results faster and without needing to visit a hospital.

Choice

Patients are offered several alternative appointment slots and can have their test or scan at a time and location they choose.

Facilities and staff

The services we provide are delivered by highly qualified staff that use the latest diagnostic equipment.

Clinical excellence
Qualified UK clinical professionals write the reports. Our services operate under stringent Department of Health and clinical governance protocols.

Positive feedback

In existing services, over 92% of patients we asked, rated the overall experience as good or better, with professional and friendly staff set in a relaxed environment.

Lower Cost

Giving GPs direct access to diagnostics removes the need for separate out-patient and follow-up appointments with specialists. It enables GPs to manage their patients within a primary care setting and to refer for specialist treatment where appropriate. This shorter pathway reduces the diagnostics cost within the health economy.
